Build Auditory Skills for Learning and Communication
This small-group program is designed for children ages 7 and up with a confirmed Auditory Processing Disorder diagnosis. Sessions are led by licensed Speech-Language Pathologists and target auditory skills that impact learning, listening and comprehension.
Through engaging, evidence-based activities, students work on key auditory processing skills including understanding speech in noise, distinguishing similar sounds, remembering and sequencing information, and applying listening strategies to support comprehension. When appropriate, pragmatic and prosodic skills are also addressed to support social communication.
- Understanding speech in noisy or group settings
- Distinguishing similar sounds and spoken words
- Improving auditory memory and sequencing for multi-step directions
- Applying listening strategies to support comprehension and follow-through
- Supporting prosody and pragmatic listening skills when clinically indicated
Why Choose This Program?
Auditory Processing Disorder requires targeted, evidence-based support—not one-size-fits-all listening activities. This program is designed specifically for school-age children with diagnosed APD and focuses on the auditory skills that most directly affect learning and daily communication.
- Led by Licensed Speech-Language Pathologists: Designed and facilitated by SLPs experienced in auditory processing and school-based listening needs.
- Targets Real-World Listening Skills: Focuses on understanding speech in noise, following directions, remembering spoken information, and using effective listening strategies.
- Small Groups with Individualized Support: Delivered in a group format while adapting activities to each child’s auditory processing profile.
- Evidence-Based Intervention: Uses research-supported approaches for speech-in-noise processing, sound discrimination, auditory memory, and sequencing, with pragmatic support as needed.
